From experience, If you don't have a High End sound system and an acoustic room with acoustic panel, you might noticed a little difference between the two but when you got them, Analog is day and night compare to Digital. YES, It's way warmer. Younger I couldn't afford those and I was saying things like Digital sound the same as Analog, until I visit my uncle place and discover High End sound system WITH acoustic room. That being said, not all analog synth sound great. That's why when you have the chance to try an instrument like the Prophet 5/10, Matriarch or Subsequent with the right listening gear, you cannot go back :)

Digital->ITB Analog outside the box Hybrid-> use the audio input on one of those analog synths or eurorack filter, run your VST through that.

Tools are tools. Go make yer’ music. If you need fancy tools, use ‘em. If you can get by with an electric kazoo, do your thing. Just keep bangin’ the rocks together. ;)

I think Gary Numan summed up these kinds of discussions the best. In an interview he was asked which he liked better, analog or digital. His response was basically that anyone feeling that they needed to have this discussion in the first place probably has no business trying to make music. He felt that if it sounded good, it didn't matter if it was made with - digital or analog or both together. I'm absolutely not poking barbs at anyone here, I'm just stating what a living legend of modern synthesis had to say about this very subject!

I like it all, Echo! They all have their place. There are some very good VSTs and digital synths. I love my digital synths and I love my analog and hybrid too. But I don't agree that digital can replicate analog. And I don't see why it needs to. We are very lucky now that we can have all of them for quite reasonable costs. I am even happy to use something like TheLegendHZ that gets very close. Sometimes that is fine too. I guess I'm a pragmatist and if it works in the context that is all that really matters. I think people worry about it far too much. I am a bit of a snob about the filters though still, although digital filters have come a long way. Even then they can be awesome. Like I have that SH-01a which is fully digital, and it probably sounds nothing like an SH-101 but it is also its own thing and quite a cool thing at that. Then I have some crazy VSTs and some of the sounds would be completely impossible in the analog domain. Then I have analog and hybrid stuff which again sound different. So yeah.. for me it's all hippy dippy share the love or whatever ❤😊💫😂

Thought I'd update you on that Behringer Digital Reverb DR600. Although it sounds ok ,it's not great and very cheaply made. I thought it didn't take a 9 volt battery but then I discovered that you need to remove the Pedal part by pushing in 2 small buttons on the left and right of the actual pedal part and remove it. (There is no battery compartment on the bottom) Once I remove the pedal the spring mechanism came popping put. It was ridiculous trying to put it back together especially with the battery installed. When I finally did the Pedal would no longer turn off, stuck in the on position. I tried to remove it and assemble it again but it still didn't work.... I returned it to Amazon as defective! I love Behringer products but this DR600 Reverb pedal is a horrible design. I do not recommend this Reverb Pedal.

I know your post is about a year old but a few weeks ago I bought the MS-1 as well. I never really wanted the Roland SH-101 back when it was released, never thought it was anything special. Now that Behringer has reduced the price on the MS-1 MK I in preparation for finally shipping sometime this year the MKII Version I decided to take another look at the Mk 1 while it is still available. Listening to a few side by side comparison videos of the MK1 and SH-101 I truly could not discern much of a difference. Especially if you add any effects and put it in the mix I challenge anyone to hear the difference. So instead of waiting for the MK II, which I know is going to be priced about $150.00 more, I grabbed the MK I for $199.00. It's really a no brainer, where can you get a Synth like this for that price???? As you've stated it's well built, very solid. The Keyboard is pretty decent and is full size. The knobs and sliders are also solid with a nice feel. It's got a solid metal base. MIDI In Out and THRU and all of the CV connector options, an External Audio Input, Velocity Connection and USB. What more could you ask for. Overall it's just very good quality. I did buy the Behringer Digital Reverb DR600 to dedicate it to the Synth to give the sounds such much needed depth. So yes I too suffer from GAS, I didn't need this Synth, but for the price, quality and features I had to have it! I got it from Alto Music because Sweetwater was out of them. I am now seeing they are out of Stock everywhere. Glad I grabbed it when I did.

I just got an osmose, im trying to use it in pigments and it wont let me pick it as a controller. If i go to the hamburger menu and go to audio midi settings. I can see the 2 Osmose devices there, I checked them and close the midi settings. It still doesn’t show up as an option for a controller. I can’t find any help with it.

ok my interest is peaked...I'm curious to hear how it sounds when you use oscilator 3 to modulate the filter... Try this... Cutoff at 40% Emphasis about 75% and the Amount of contour to about 80% set the Mod mix to OSC3, turn on OSC1 at 8', turn OFF OSC2 and 3. set OSC3 to 4' and the pitch 70-90%. OSC1 wave to saw, OSC3 wave to saw. Flip the switch to modulate the OSC to OFF. Flip switch to modulate the filter ON. Keyboard control switches ON. This should produce a sick Yoi Yei Bass sound. The sweet spot may be within those ranges, but I'm really curious how it replicates that sound...✌

I think I will get the library. It reminds me of why I bought the Hydra as a replacement for my sold digital synths - Fizmo and CS50 (call me crazy, I agree) but when I got the Hydra module then the keys, I was not so impressed with the digital-ness and found it fairly warm but less digital than the old beasts. But here I get the digital goodness. Time to explore some more.

I gave up the module for the keys. Poly AT is the winner. Touch strip is good too for effects. Nice review. Sub.

I bought the Hydrasynth a couple of years ago and I have to say it is one of the best built synths I have ever bought, it’s a truly beautiful thing and the sounds it makes range from bright digital to really dark and moody analogue and everything in-between. I think the way the control panel is laid out is so intuitive and it’s so easy to program, beautiful sounds just fall out of this thing. It’s one of my all time favourite synths and the centrepiece of my studio.

If I wanna push someone into making music this may be my go to now. Everything you need in one little package.

Yeah Behringer, love em I have the b'Odyssey B'Monopoly and Behringer eurorack modular stuff. Quite fancy the MS-5 but no room at the moment, I wish the Edge was designed to be euroracked, I'd definitely get one of those.
